Y.H.E.C. is an acronym for Youth Hunter Education Challenge. Y.H.E.C. as it is known today started around 1984. The program was developed to educate youth in hunting and shooting related sports. Also including hunter safety, ethics, and wildlife identification. The PA YHEC website (www.payhec.org) has a great article written by Charlie Fox that talks about the history of Y.H.E.C.
